MORE WAYS TO BE INVOLVED

We want you to help us improve your neighbourhood. We also want you to feel a real sense of community with the people and families that live around you.

Community involvement is about giving you a real say in how your neighbourhood is run. This means you can be involved in making decisions that affect you, your home and your community.

We are also keen to know what you think about the services we provide. We believe that the more involved you are, the more satisfied you will be with the services you receive from us.

We offer various opportunities for you to work with us and have developed a range of methods for you to have your say.

Don't delay - help to make your neighbourhood a better place to live today!

We’re committed to making Rotherham estates safe, clean and proud where people are happy to live. Tenants and leaseholders can get involved in estate walkabouts.

Become a Key Player

Have you ever thought “if only I was given the opportunity, I’d tell them how to improve things?”

Well, we realise that most customers have ideas on how to make services better, but not all are given the chance to give us their ideas in ways that suit them best.

The Key Player scheme allows you to do just that - it lets you tell us when and in what ways you want to be involved, at a time and place to suit you.

You can give as much or as little time as you prefer, and you don't even have to meet anyone face to face, if you prefer. Some involvement can be done anonymously and we ask for no commitment from you.

Tell us how to communicate with you

Would you like more control over how we communicate with you?

Would you like your letters to be in large print, for example. Do you have difficulty answering the door and would you like us to wait awhile after knocking.

You can tell us these things by simply updating the Checking our Records form, where you can state your preferred method of communication.

Did you also know your rent pays for all the different services you receive from 2010 Rotherham?

For example, it is worth considering the cost of asking 2010 Rotherham to respond to your request in person as opposed to dealing with your service request over the phone, via our website or by email.

The cost of these different transactions may surprise you as they can be quite substantial.

So, don't delay. Have more control over our services and update your details today.

Here's the Deal!

The Here's the Deal is an agreement between:

  • The Council, as the landlord
  • 2010 Rotherham, as the arms length management organisation
  • The people of Rotherham - tenants, residents, leaseholders – the customers

It sets out how people can be involved in decisions affecting their homes and communities and what we
will achieve together over the next three years.

By getting involved, people can have a say in improving services and making sure Rotherham Borough Council and 2010 Rotherham tackle the issues that are most important – that’s the deal.

Customer Inspection Service

We would love you to join our friendly team of 'customer inspectors'.

The group regularly checks the services which 2010 Rotherham provides.

As part of a group, the 'inspectors' may be taken to visit empty properties and housing receptions and give their opinion of how they could be improved.

For an informal chat and to find out more, contact our Service Quality Officer Karen Green on 01709 822292.

Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs)

Go along to meetings held by your local Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, and have your say at public meetings. Your local Neighbourhood Office will be able to give you more information about this.

You can also join your local Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (TARA) or start a new association or group if there isn’t one in your area. TARAs do lots of different things to make things better on their particular estate or local area. A few examples if what they can do are include getting play areas for children, organising social events and campaigning on issues they are concerned about.

Rother Fed is an independent federation representing all TARAs in Rotherham. You can find out more about Rother Fed and TARAs by visiting its website.

Get Involved in 2010 Rotherham meetings

Do you have some time to spare - just a few hours every couple of months?

If so, you could get involved in the Decent Homes Customer Focus Group which gives you a chance to suggest improvements to the scheme.

Or you could join the customer newsletter 'Round Your Place' editorial board.

No experience is needed and we are simply looking for your views on the changes we suggest.

We also have groups which look at empty properties, rents, repairs, access and customer care.

If you are interested in any of the above, please contact Sneh Soni on 01709 332259 for further information.

Rotherham Councillors

The Councillors responsible for each Ward within Rotherham have been elected to provide a voice for individuals and communities. Your local neighbourhood team are able to provide you with details of Councillor surgeries.

Rotherham Assemblies

The Area Assemblies are an innovative way to bring people together who work and live in an area and to make a difference. They are a partnership of individuals, agencies and organisations which work together to tackle local issues and to listen to local people.

Rotherham is split into seven Area Assemblies.

They are responsible for Neighbourhood Management in an area and are attended by borough councillors, those that deliver local services and community representatives. The Area Assemblies, through a Community Planning Officer, will support local communities develop and implement their Community Plans.
