Further Information

We recognise the importance of putting the needs of the individual at the heart of all we do.

One of our values is 'respecting all our customers and their diverse needs'. This assists us in achieving our key objective to 'deliver excellent customer services', which are accessible to everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, transgender, race or ethnicity, religion or belief or sexual orientation.

This enables us to shape and deliver more effective user led services. In making a real difference to people's lives, we make sure our customers are treated as individuals and do everything we can to meet their needs.

This helps us in realising our vision of 'Creating better homes, neighbourhoods and communities', which is an intrinsic part of our functions, processes, and service delivery.

In line with our legal duties and an Arms Length Management Organisation, we have embedded equality and diversity in our strategic thinking and in our day to day work.

For more information on how we do this, see our Equality Impact Assessments >>>

Community Strategy

Our relationship with Rotherham Borough Council and the wider local strategic partnership requires a commitment to the Community Strategy vision for Rotherham, and part of that is a commitment to fairness.

We work closely with Rotherham Borough Council to promote equality, inclusiveness and community cohesion for all neighbourhoods, customers and staff. We will offer equal and fair treatment to all, respecting and responding to their different needs. Working together and with partners we will overcome barriers to, and within, our services that discriminate and disadvantage individuals and communities, sometimes through joint strategies aimed at specific groups and otherwise through a general approach. We will drive this commitment through our role in the community, as an employer, and through the services we offer and the way we deliver them. This policy will be fundamental to all our work across all areas of the borough.

Policies, strategies and procedures

At 2010 Rotherham, we have three policies for Equality and Diversity. These are: Our Role in the Community, Our Role as an Employer and Our Role as a Service Provider. They set the direction for the 2010 Rotherham Corporate Equality and Diversity Strategy, which in turn directs the contents of our Equality and Diversity Scheme or action plan.

We also check all service and business plans, and our policies and procedures, on a regular basis to ensure that they do not discriminate against any group, and we make use of opportunities to take action to reduce or remove any barriers. This process is called an Equality Impact Assessment.
