OUR POLICIES, STRATEGIES AND ACTION PLANS


Our relationship with RMBC and the wider local strategic partnership requires a commitment to the Community Strategies vision for Rotherham, and part of that is a commitment to Fairness,

“All individuals in Rotherham will have equality of opportunity and choice. Rotherham will provide open and accessible services. We will treat each other with Fairness and Respect, our diverse needs and strengths will be understood and valued. Rotherham will actively challenge all forms of prejudice and discrimination and ensure that all the priorities (Learning, Achieving, Alive, Proud and Safe) encompass an equalities approach” - Rotherham’s Community Strategy 2005.

Working closely with Rotherham Council, Rotherham 2010 Ltd will promote equality, inclusiveness and community cohesion for all neighbourhoods, customers and staff.  We will offer equal and fair treatment to all, respecting and responding to their different needs. Working together and with partners we will overcome barriers to, and within, our services that discriminate and disadvantage individuals and communities, sometimes through joint strategies aimed at specific groups and otherwise through a general approach. We will drive this commitment through our role in the community, as an employer, and through the services we offer and the way we deliver them. This policy will be fundamental to all our work across all areas of the borough.

At 2010 we have 3 Policies for Equality and Diversity. These set the direction for the 2010 Corporate Equality and Diversity Strategy, Which in turn directs the contents of Our Equality and Diversity Scheme or action plan. We also expect all service plans and business plans along with all policies and procedures to be checked on a regular basis to ensure that they do not discriminate against any group and make use of opportunities to take positive action.
