GREEN LINKS

Like other companies, 2010 Rotherham has an impact on the environment because of the services it provides and the things it does. This includes:

• Improvements to homes through the Decent Homes and planned maintenance programmes

• The day-to-day response repairs service

• Managing the Council’s housing estates to ensure they are cleaner and greener for residents

We intend to minimise our environmental impact and carbon footprint in order to safeguard the environment for future generations. Like many organisations, we have a long way to go but the next few years will see many interesting developments in terms of the changes we will be putting into place.

The 2010 Rotherham Board and management have now adopted the first Environmental Policy statement as part of this process.

Getting greener...

2010 Rotherham was rewarded for its environmental efforts by being named as 'significant improver' by the Yorkshire and Humberside Environmental Index.

The Index benchmarks organisations within the region, based on what they are doing to reduce their environmental impact.

• Reducing 2010 Rotherham’s consumption of energy, water and other resources

• Adopting renewable energy wherever practical and viable

• Maximising recycling and waste reduction

• Ensuring neighbourhoods are ‘clean and green’

• Focusing on sustainability when buying goods and services

• Minimising environmental damage and contributing to the reduction of noise, light and dust pollution

• Championing environmental protection amongst our own workforce, partners and customers

Environmental Champion

Hello, I'm Councillor Simon Currie and I am the lead 2010 Rotherham board member for Environmental Consideration, and the Chair of the Sustainable Communities Committee within 2010 Rotherham. The environment is at the forefront in our considerations when carrying out our daily work at 2010 Rotherham, and through effective communication and scrutiny of our working practices. I will endeavour to ensure that the impact on the environment is considered at all levels of our decision making at 2010 Rotherham going forward.
