One lucky Council tenant swapped a “check” for “cheque” after completing a 2010 Rotherham Ltd “Checking Our Records” form and winning £500 for his efforts.
Mr Sidney Newey, of East Herringthorpe, was one of 4000 customers to submit their Checking our Records form before 5th June and were therefore entered into a prize draw.
The forms were then collected into sacks, and the winning draw pulled out by Andrew Roddison, Company Secretary of Rotherfed, the Rotherham Federation of Tenants and Residents.
After being sent a letter informing him of his win, a delighted Mr Newey said: “I was shocked at first. I had to read the letter five times! I already have a holiday booked to Skegness in July, so I intend to spend some of the money there. And a little bit on backing the horses!”
The Checking Our Records forms – previously known as the Getting to Know You survey – helps 2010 Rotherham Ltd design and deliver the correct services for its customers.
This is important because it helps 2010 Rotherham to understand the needs of many of the underrepresented groups in our communities and ensure the services will be right for customers and represent excellent value for money.
It includes information such as whether customers would like staff to use the back door rather than the front, whether they would like staff to knock loudly or to wait longer for a reply to give customers time to get to the door.
It also asks customers whether they would prefer being written to by email, Braille, a different language or other format.
2010 Rotherham Ltd Board member Liz Booth, who took part in the drawing of the prize, said: “It’s not everyday that we get to hand over a cheque to one of our customers, and I’m delighted that Mr Newey was so pleased with his prize. Not only that, but we can now offer him an improved service because of the information he provided on his form. And it’s not too late for other customers to complete their forms – the more we know about our customers’ priorities, the better service we can provide.”
Andrew added: “It was great to see so many customers of 2010 Rotherham Ltd completing their forms and sending them in. We always endeavour to encourage tenants to get more involved and take more control within Rotherham, and this is one simple way to do just that.”
To date, 2010 Rotherham Ltd has received Checking our Records forms from 52% of our customers.
