What is the Key Choices Letting Service?

Key Choices is a new scheme introduced by Rotherham MBC that lets you apply for a home of your choice instead of waiting for an offer that someone else thinks is suitable. It gives you, our customers more say in where they want to live and more opportunity of knowing your housing options.

The service along with our partners promotes greater choice and provides flexibility by placing you in control to choose the home that you are more likely to be happy with and keep for longer.

How does Key Choices work?

Rotherham MBC with their partner Housing Associations and Private Landlords advertise properties which are available for letting every Wednesday from 10.30 am. Until the following Tuesday at 4pm.
You can view the advertisements at various outlets including:
- Key Choices Website (opens new window)
- Any Neighbourhood Office
- The Key Choices Property Shop
- Via a mailing list if you are in a vulnerable group
Registered applicants can make up to 3 bids for a property during any 1-week. You can place a bid by using the waiting time that you have gathered since the date of your application or priority award.

Bids can be made at the following Outlets:

By telephone to any Neighbourhood Office, the Key Choices Property Shop or Rotherham Connect.
In person at any Neighbourhood Office, or the Key Choices Property Shop.
E-mail keychoices@rotherham.gov.uk
By post to the Key Choices Property Shop
By SMS text to Rotherham Connect
If more than one-person bids for an advertised home the property will be allocated to the person who has been on the waiting list the longest.
