Housing Income Team

The Housing Income Team collect rent from all council tenants, recover rent arrears, and work hard to prevent debt and arrears from occurring.

What you can expect from us;
 
· We will make it as convenient as possible for you to pay your rent by offering an internet and automated telephone payment service every day of the year, click here to pay your rent

· We will provide all tenants with a rent statement every 13 weeks

· We will give 4 weeks notice of annual rent increases and explain how rent is calculated

· We will provide weekly surgeries in all Neighbourhood Areas, click here to find out where and when these take place

· Housing Income Champions will work closely with tenants to help resolve debt issues, and make sure they are receiving benefits they are entitled to

We also encourage you to seek free independent financial advice by promoting the work of organisations like the Citizens Advice Bureau and the Rotherham Money Advice Service, who can help resolve wider debt issues.

Our Achievements;

· We have shifted the emphasis of our work from recovery to prevention resulting in a third fewer council tenants being evicted over the last year.

· Between 1 April 2007 and 31 March 2008, the number of evictions was 67, compared to 110 evictions during the same time period the previous year.

· We have effectively profiled tenants through surveys, enabling us to tailor our services to individual customers needs. For example, we now provide rent statements in large print, and provide information in various languages for those who request it.

· We have met our own targets on rent collection and are achieving some of the best results in Yorkshire and Humberside, with performance in 3 of the 4 key indicators being in the top 25% of performance for Arms Length Management Organisations.
