2010 Rotherham ‘Highly Commended’ at Rotherham Business Awards
4/11/09
2010 Rotherham has been rewarded for the training and development it provides to staff by being highly commended in the ‘Invest in Skills’ category at the Rotherham Business Awards.
TV presenter Harry Gration presents staff from 2010 Rotherham with their award. The aim of the award is to recognise organisations that can show significant business improvement and success through development of the workforce.

2010 Rotherham had to show what support is provided for staff development, how this links to the organisation’s aims and objectives, and how it has contributed to the improved performance of the business.

The judges were also looking for evidence that staff understand and can describe their contribution to the organisation.

At 2010 Rotherham, support and guidance is provided to staff in a number of ways, the central one being the annual Performance and Development Review which all employees have each year.

All employees complete a Learning Style questionnaire at Induction and the results are forwarded to their line manager.

Support is also provided in identifying specialist training if required, for example, specific trade qualifications, health and safety or waste handling certification.

In addition, 2010 Rotherham takes part in the Access All Areas scheme, which aims to provide work placements to disabled people or those returning to work after long term incapacity benefits, and has developed the Borough Environmental Training Scheme to provide disengaged young people with the opportunity to gain employment experience.

Teresa Butler, Director of Business Development at 2010 Rotherham, said: “We are delighted to have been highly commended in the ‘Invest in Skills’ category.

“Learning and development is of great importance at 2010 Rotherham, and this award reflects how investment in skills right across the organisation, from craft training to customer care and stress management, has contributed to the achievement of our objectives and key performance indicators when compared with others in our sector.”
